Went for glucose test today.

Won't know if I passed for two weeks when someone gets back from vacation.

Really?? My dr had the nurses call me anyway my dr never calls to talk to me! You should call in and ask for the results and act like that's what your dr said to do.

That's ridiculous! I had my results the very next day by 8:30. I like knewmommy's idea. Just tell them he told you to call. Put up a fight if they won't tell you!

WTF?! Who ARE these people?! Like I always said, if that's how I worked @ my job, I wouldn't have a job after pulling something like that. You should switch if you can unless you really love your Dr's style when it comes to other things & want him to deliver your baby.

This was actually my 2nd Dr. Fired the first one after she never showed up for a single appnt. I always leave w/ more questions than answers. And if its worth noting, this is supposed to be the 2nd best women's Dr center in the state.

Anyway, sorry to complain, but thanks for the ideas!

Get a midwife. It's a completely different experience. It's amazing. It's like you matter.

Hmm, not a bad idea. Since I'm 29 wks, is it too late? Does insurance pay for it, and do I just google 'midwifery' for my area?

I really like that idea ...

I have a midwife, they usually work with a doctor too. Mine is covered by my insurance. I love her. Theres actually 2. They delivered all 7 of my nieces & nephews. mine like to have a prayer before delivery if it's something mommy likes. It's wworth a shot! Good luck!

I go up for mine in 3 weeks and am nervous because I failed last time by one point and ended up doing the three hour glucose

but I can say one thing. I am one of those people who answer the phone when you call the doctor and although it really sucks when your anxious it is against the law for someone to give you results that have not been interpreted by a physician. Trust me I have people go off on me but its better than me giving a result that's inaccurate and getting fired and hospital being sued. When a doctor is out you should be able to have a covering physician read results.

I have a midwife too and I absolutely love it. And I switched at 24 weeks so no its not too late for you to switch but if you really want to switch, I wouldn't wait much longer. It took my OB's office 4to weeks to send my records! Midwives are usually covered by all insurance. I have Medicaid and they cover Midwives.

I've worked for plenty of doctors. I don't think it's "illegal" to give results, but it is typically.against office policy. It is however illegal to with hold medical records from a patient. Just go in and ask for a copy of the lab report. They MUST give it to you.

While the legalities may or may not exist, depending on area, it may be a dr's choice wether not to consider potential liability....which I personally feel is silly. Either way, the useful advice I took away from meladawn was to choose proper language when dealing w/ these guys and because of that, should have my answer within the hour. I'll update soon

Not sure what one point over means but I'm going in today. And they fussed at me for trying to say 'I know a physician shld read the results'. I'm sad again
