So I'm 38 and a half weeks I'm having contractions 4 in the last hour about 15-20 minutes apart no extreme discomfort but slight cramps... should I assume because my water isn't broken and I'm not in ridiculous pain that I'm not fortunate enough for this to be labor yet?

Give it time lol I slept 3 hrs with contractions woke up to them 5 min apart. And then the dr at the hospital had to break my water. Relax they will get closer if they are real and your water might not break.

I'm 39 weeks and was wonderinng the same thing! Except for me it was about 8 min apart and just really uncomfortable with back cramps. Does it have to be really painful contractions to be the real thing?

P.s. since you threw up try to drink a lot of water and some gatorade if you have it. I was throwing up a lot last week too, dehydration from throwing up can cause contractions too

My contractions werend really painful when I first felt them I slept through them for a bit. They might not be painful but the most definately arent comfy lol.
