out of breath easily?
« on: February 21, 2014, 09:03:33 am »
Okay so as I've said before I have no idea how far along I am as I am breastfeeding. I haven't had a period since November. But I believe I'm no more than 9 weeks along however since a week before I took a pregnancy test I have moments where I am incredibly out of breath. And this is with little to no activity. I've never experienced this in past pregnancies during the first trimester. Any of you ladies ever experience this and find out why?

I am 17 weeks and 5 days with my first pregnancy and my first trimester was horrible. I was exhausted all of the time. It was work just to get up to use the restroom. I was always out of breath. My guess would be that you're using a lot of energy to feed and provide a healthy home for your new baby. I'm no expert though, obviously lol. I would check with your doctor to see if your iron is at the appropriate levels and that everything is looking good. Good luck to you! And congratulations!

It is extremely normal :) Your ribcage moves up and outward to accomodate the growing baby....aaaand the high levels of progesterone can leave ya feeling breathless...as it causes you to inhale a bit more deeply...as it accomdates getting more oxygen into your body for you and the lil one :D It may help to prop yourself up at night....also wearing looser clothing...and practicing sitting up straight :)

Okay thanks ladies I've always had low iron so when I see doc I'm sure they will check. Again thanks happy to know it's okay just  with the two I have carried to term I never felt out of breath till at least 24 weeks.

Oh yeah. I was out of breath all the time during early pregnancy as well as side and back hurting. Didnt do much and took it easy but was always out of breath and had more rapid breathing going on. At first worried me but wasnt hurting the baby so got used to it eventually.

@teen Well I hope the remainder of your pregnancy isn't too bad cause the 3rd trimester has been the worse for me when it comes to shortness of breath.GL
